6-Word Saturday: Sore Behind

finger painting 005Sorely behind, with a sore behind.

This tailbone injury is making it harder to do things than I thought it would.  I need to update my about page.  Apparently the thing I do more than anything is sit.

I sit through yoga, sit while reading, sit while blogging, sit while working.  I sit in a car to visit family and sit with them around a dinner table.  All my favorite things are starting to be associated with severe pain.

I’m sorely behind on my work, and my reading.  I set all the blogs I follow to email notifications so I can read on my stomach by just flipping through, but it turns out that it doesn’t always work.  I thought some of you were suspiciously quiet lately.  After typing in blogs directly, I realized I just wasn’t getting notifications.  No fun at all!  So if you get unfollowed and followed by me, I’m just trying desperately to fix it.  Don’t mind me!

On the bright side, I enjoy saying coccyx, and it’s always nice to be pampered.   Plus, other than my bruised tailbone, 2013 has been pretty fabulous.

How has the new year been treating you?

  1. Ya poor little luv, it will take a while to heal? Can you lie in a spa? Hot pummelling water/bubbles may help? What other things have they told you that might help the healing process? New Year and Me…ok into my 2nd week of the new job (one woman a little toxic) that and you have to answer the phones in your 30 minute lunch break! So deep breath in for me! Health wise ok – though shoulders get a little sore and wrists from typing so much! Take care rawr :-) xx

    • Heat, baths, and soft donuts to sit on. I’ve been doing it and I had hopes I’d be healed up in days even though they said it can take a month. That faith is flagging a bit now, but I’m getting exceptionally good at reading on my stomach and commenting from my phone. Hardly any typos today! The best thing for sore shoulders and wrists while typing is a little Blogger Yoga. Just stretch your arms out directly in front of you, then use your right hand to bend your left hand down from the wrist for 3 seconds. Then bend it up for 3 seconds. Now use your left hand to bend your right hand down from the wrist for 3 seconds. Up for 3 seconds. Rest your arms. Do that every once in awhile and you should keep your bones limber. :) As far as the toxic lady, maybe just imagine that she’s wearing a ridiculous hat? :D haha! You take care, too!

  2. Thanks sweet – I just did my Blogger Yoga -) and will continue :-) I have trouble using my phone when standing or sitting..let alone lying on my stomach! Woot woot to you! :-) xx

  3. Sorry to hear your in pain Rara, hopefully it will wear off soon. 2013 is ok so far, thanks for asking. I lost my job just before christmas and am thinking that 2013 is the year that lots of things are going to improve as a result (more blogging time!) Take care. Chin

    • Just before Christmas is a tough time to lose a job, but it makes for a wonderfully fresh start to the year. I foresee amazing things for you! (By the way, your name doesn’t link to your blog properly anymore, and your gravatar profile doesn’t have a direct link to it… which it should because your picture is so interesting I’m sure people would want to know more about you! :D )

    • No, the painting isn’t mine, but I love it too! I went on a little Google quest to find the original, and thought I might have at one point– sent the guy an email and he said he nabbed it from the ‘net years before. I’d love to know who’s it is. :) Thanks for the nudges and goodwishes… you must have superpowers, too! I woke up feeling a thousand times better. Still not all healed up, but not nearly as bad as last night. :) I’m so glad your New Year is fabulous so far!!!

  4. How about one of those chairs where you sort of kneel rather than sit? They were all the rage for posture some time ago – are they still around?

    • I lived in a farming town of less than 1500 people– I can pee like a dude, no problem. All we did out there was camp and talk about how to use the bathroom in extreme circumstance. Too much info? Well. You started it. ;)

  5. I can’t do a V sit to this day because of a broken tailbone. Very unpleasant injury…and all of a sudden your affection for your ol’caboose is not so asinine. hehe …

    • haha! Seriously though, the benefit of butt puns through this ordeal is an unexpected joy. :D I guess it’ll have to be coffee push ups for exercise until I heal up, haha! :D

      • oh yeah…all day long… ;-)
It is not a pleasant ordeal. ..[I’m stalling now, trying to think up some other butt pun…}///{got nothing…} I have this mental image though of you wandering around your house like the kid off the old toiletpaper ad…with it all wadded up in her pants….like a cast…but not.

  6. Better to have a pain in your ass than be a pain in the ass…yeah? maybe? maybe? No. Ugh. I’m sorry your suffering, but there is no funnier word than coccyx; it’s like cursing, but not.

  7. You’re not the only one that’s already “sorely behind” although I put mine down to procrastination… Have you tried wedging a Sac magique in the affected area? You’ll have to google that one as I don’t know what they are called in English only that you heat it up in the microwave and that they are great for aches and pains!

    • Oh yeah, we have those here! I will try!! :) I’m strangely okay with being behind due to procrastination, but not okay with being behind when I want to be working, haha! :) Oh, that probably only made sense inside my head. :) Thanks for the advice!

  8. Tailbone injuries suck, Had one. Lying on my stomach was never the same after that. If I ever try to lay on my stomach I had to have pillows under my stomach to keep my body from going flat or concave. Keep it bowed some, like a “C”. That might help. Or not. I just wanted to say I feel bad that you hurt. :(

  9. Oh yowch! How well I remember the tailbone injury thru 14 years of figure skating. Funny, the ice seemed a lot softer back then then it does now. :) Hope you heal quickly.

  10. Boo and double boo. No consolation now, I know, but I once had a neck problem which meant I had to stop all the things I loved – I could not even hold a book. It got sorted in the end. You’ll get sorted in the end. In the meantime, you’ll find new things to love. :)

    • Oh a neck injury would be awful, too. Today, I will find two new things that I can easily do that I love as much as reading sitting up. That’ll be a tough one, but I will do it! :) Thanks for the reminder that there are many things to love in this world!

    • Yep, a coccyx is what a coccyx does. I have no idea what that means but I’m just going to start replacing cliches and metaphors with the word coccyx at will. I cannot be stopped! :) Thanks, naked blogger goddess, for sending over your healing vibes!

  11. SEnding you a tonne of good healing mojo Rara..and arnica get some arnica.
My year is pretty good so far..up and down but manageable ♥

    • The mojo is working, it’s working!! :D I’m on it, I have a big ol’ grocery list of blogger advice now… and I’m thinking it’s going to make me heal up super fast! :) Well, as long as the ups and downs are manageable, I can see you surfin’ the waves of life beautifully. :D

    • It didn’t work out… I couldn’t convince everyone to set up a hammock for me wherever I go, *sighs* Oh well. :D I’m feeling better today than I was last night, so I consider that to be an excellent sign!

  12. I feel for ya, Rara. I have two blown disks at the base of my spine, and back pain is a bear. Do what you need to do to get better. I give myself one more week to be a sloth, and then I’ll be sure to kickstart 2013 with housecleaning and eating healthier.

    • Oh man! Do blown disks get better? Or is it one of those things you just deal with forever? :) That’s a good plan… I told Dave that we’re going to have to celebrate Chinese New Year this year just to make sure our new year gets off to a better start than this one did, haha! :)

    • I miss books… and blogs… I’ve actually being keeping up somewhat with the blogs, but still. :) I’m glad other people are behind too, haha! :) I hope that doesn’t sound mean, I’m just glad we’re in it together! :D

  13. My Grandmother had multiple fractures to her pelvis and couldn’t sit properly for months because of the pain. I think she just wriggled lots.

  14. Might be a signal to take a blogging break, Rara. We miss you dearly, but we care about you more. My son seems to like the feeling of warm urine in his diaper, You might want to get some Depends and just let it flow. :)

  15. Don’t they make some kind of inflatable donut-shaped thingy you can sit on, to relieve the stress on the tailbone? (Sorry to throw all the techno-jargon at ya. ;) )
    2013 in a word? Kinda like 2012 – “meh”.

  16. I am so sorry you are bootyliciously challenged at the moment! It must be incredibly difficult to accomplish anything when sitting hurts. I have had this problem in the past due to Spina Bifida & the attending arthritis in the lumbar region which is just above the coccyx. Now I have the exact opposite problem where I can only stand for a very few minutes before I need to sit. I try to cope with this by combining the 2 – stand for a few minutes, sit for a bit, then try standing again. I hope you find something that works for you (& soon).
