“We’re all a little weird. And life is a little weird. And when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall into mutually satisfying weirdness.”
- Robert Fulghum, True Love
Thanks for being compatibly weird!

This weekend’s Trifextra challenge is a “reading” challenge. 33 words exactly from a source other than yourself. They don’t say it has to be books or anything, so for you movie, quote, or song lovers– you should participate, too! Just be sure to read the rules. http://www.trifectawritingchallenge.com/2013/02/trifextra-week-fifty-four.html
Totally love this and love being uniquely weird!
Yay for unique weirdness!
What a great quote for the challenge!
Thanks, Dianne! I love Fulghum, and it seemed timely,
This is awesome! Sums up my life and my love perfectly!
This is an awesome quote, and it says so much! Great choice for the challenge.
This is a good one, Mr BC and I are compatibly weird.
Compatible weirdness is what it’s all about, it keeps things interesting!
A nice little analogy from Mr. Fulgrum. Thanks.
I love this! Perfect choice!
I love that quote, so perfect
Thanks!!!
“mutually satisfying weirdness” sounds damn right to me. I’ll never understand the obsession with finding the perfect person. There is no such thing as perfection but if it did exist, what in the world would they want with us flawed individuals?!
Awesome selection. Thanks for sharing it!
It’s true! The search for perfection is meaningless, but the search for compatible weirdness is very rewarding.
Loved your thoughts on this– thanks for sharing them!
I am a nerd. My wife is a nerd. My daughters are growing up to cute as the dickens but, nerds, just the same. We are all nerds and we are all happy and live a life filled with love. Your quote sums this happy little situation up rather well. Thanks for sharing. Great quote.
Nothin’ wrong with being a nerd. I’m one myself and happily married to one. There’s something about being with someone who gets appropriately excited about tiny electronic devices, large lizards, and space-time traveling doctors. Mutually compatible weirdness– that’s where the glory is.
Thanks for popping in to say hey!
perfect!
hahaha this is way better than a bodice-ripping quote ^^
I hadn’t heard about this group. Sounds like a fun writing community. Thanks for highlighting it
Oh Trifecta is great! The editors/managers put a lot of work into it. Some challenges are voted by them, some are open to the public to vote. Someone “wins” each time… all the participants seem to pop around and say hey. And the challenges are really creative! Nuances of vocab aren’t my strong suit so I don’t usually do their weeklies, but I love the weekend ones– called “Trifextra”. Plus, you know. Dino logo.
It’s definitely worth checking out!
Rawr!
That is REALLY weird. I have to pass this on.
Haha! Thanks!!
weird! and . . . awesome!
Thanks, Barbara!
I love his view of everything. So simple.
Exactly!
I love how he just whittles everything down to what’s basic, and real. Thanks!
AnElephantCant help thinking
This is some crazy stuff you have created
You may be slightly mad
But please don’t be sad
AnElephant thinks sanity is vastly overrated
What a very kind thing for you to say–
Crazy is the rhythm of my song.
I’m glad you think sanity is overrated…
AnElephantCant be wrong!
I adore this. Can’t tell you how much.
Aha! Now that’s the weirdness I always get attracted to. So love this. Thanks for sharing.
Yep, that’s why we’re attracted to weird, haha!
Thank you!

This is so perfect and true. I’m going to have to read the book!
Woohoo for weirdos!!!
Yay for us!…. I mean…. yay for weirdos!
No, no. You were right the first time.
ha! what a great choice of words (:
Thanks Draug!!!
This is a great quote! Many years ago, I was at a reception for Robert Fulghum when he was doing a fundraiser for my employer. I was enjoying a pastry and chatting with a coworker when I accidently bumped into someone behind me. I turned around to apologize and realized it was Mr. Fulghum. He very kindly brushed off the apology and introduced himself and shook my hand, which was covered with powdered sugar from my pastry. Honestly, you can’t take me anywhere.
haha, oh my gosh, what a great story!!!
Fulgum is one of my absolute favorites, who I’ve never had a chance to even see live, so I’m jealous.
Thanks for popping by to say hey!
Haha! I think that’s the secret nutshell of everybody’s philosophy!
It’s true! You really can’t go wrong with a matching type of weird.
There you go, I knew I always liked weird!
Yep, weird is pretty great, especially when it’s the right kind of weird.
Ha ha! I love it.
Thanks!! And thanks for a great challenge!!
Ain’t that the truth
It is, indeed. Weird attracts weird.
SOO me & my honey. Complimentary Wierdness. Love it. Who wants to be normal anyway?
Yep, normal is boring!
Glad you enjoyed it!!
This is one of my fav quotes but never knew it came from a book-will have to read this. Thanks for sharing:-)
