Elyse over at FiftyFourAndAHalf was kind enough to tag me in a blogging game just in time to get me out of ironing duties. Phew! I don’t care about a few little wrinkles. The more I blog, the less I notice them.
The Rules
1. Post these rules. (Bam! Done!)
2. Post a photo of yourself and eleven random facts about you. (Pow! Done!)
3. Answer the questions given to you in the tagger’s post. (Boom! Done!)
4. Create eleven new questions and tag new people to answer them. (Kablam! Done)
5. Go to their blog/twitter and let them know they have been tagged. (Umm, not going to do that. There I go again. Breaking rules! I’m tagging you– yes, you, lucky reader– so pay attention!)

That’s me. A picture from one of my posts in the early days: http://rarasaur.wordpress.com/2012/08/26/photo-editing/
Eleven facts about myself? Let’s go with Eleven Things that Freak Me Out: (1) Subliminal messages, (2) Emergencies that happen while naked, (3) Blue food dye, (4) Things that can explode if you hit them in the right spot, (5) Body hosts, (6) Fish with teeth, (7) Power shortages, (8) Events that require scratchy clothes, (9) Getting or giving bad presents, (10) Incredibly awkward scenes in movies, (11) Amnesia.
Now onto Elyse’s questions for me:
1. Was I closer to Mom or Dad?
Despite my regular references to my mom, I was (and still am) actually much closer to my dad. We’re “cut from the same cloth”, I’ve always thought– though my dad is far less stellar of an example of humanity than my mom. We think more mechanically and larger than others. Sometimes that’s a good thing– most of the times, it’s just odd. But we’re in it together!
2. There are moments in history that everyone alive at that time remembers (for me it was the Kennedy assassination). What was your first?
There was probably a first, but the memory of it (whatever it was) was overshadowed by 9-11. I was a senior in high school and it changed everything about the whole world and everything we thought we knew.
3. Favorite Pet Ever
Because they’re watching me type this, I should pick Perdita or Flash… but the truth is, though I loved all my pets equally, the second cat I owned has a special place in my heart. You see, Tigger was the first animal I ever trained. He opened up my eyes to the idea that a cat could do so much more than others assume.
4. Funniest Quote
I’ve mentioned before how I’m sort of a quote addict. Asking for a favorite is difficult, so instead I’ll go with a quote related to fears, that makes me chuckle every time I read it: “All of us are born with a set of instinctive fears – of falling, of the dark, of lobsters, of falling on lobsters in the dark, or speaking before a Rotary Club, and of the words “Some Assembly Required.” – Dave Barry
5. Best insult you ever delivered and why the recipient deserved it.
I’m sort of the worst insulter in the world. That’s why I identified so much with Miss Four Eyes’ guest post on my blog about being a super hero that could deliver the witty retort.
6. First memory
I have a scary good memory. Unfortunately, life was fairly uneventful when I was 2. The most exciting memory from that year was when my little brother was born, and brought home. His little glove-covered baby hands reached up and pulled on my mom’s new pearl and diamond necklace. The gems splattered all over the floor. It was like magic!
7. What do you dislike most about blogging?
It’s a hobby that people want you to keep hidden. You can read in public, and it’s quaint. You can knit while friends watch a movie and it’s a bit quirky. But if you write down quick blog ideas, try to respond to a comment, or tell a story about your blog– you’re going to get one of those looks.

Stop talking about your blog.
8. Do your friends/family read your blog?
Nope. I haven’t really shared it with anyone, except my husband who is a blogger himself, and a few friends who are utterly un-offendable.
9. How would you be using your time right now if you weren’t answering my stupid questions?
I’d be muttering to myself, flattening clothing, and grumbling to Dave about how no one has invented an automatic ironing machine for personal use, or clothes that come apart at the seams and seal back together so you can iron them in separate, easy-to-manage chunks, or a spray that magically erases wrinkles.
10. Dream job
Well, I love what I do right now, but I’m an entrepreneur at heart. One day, when I feel like I’m completely back on my feet again, I’ll start up a business again.
11. What you expect to be reincarnated as in your next life?
Myself. Reincarnation is the transmigration of the soul. Even if my soul is in a man, a plumber, or a queen– it’s still me.
My Eleven Questions for You
- Name a smell you love, a smell you hate, and/or a smell you never really notice.
- Name an interest or hobby you wish more of your friends shared with you.
- Name something you can teach, that you’d enjoy teaching.
- What is something you’d really like to learn?
- What do you do when you’re off-line?
- Do you sing in the shower? If so, what type of music?
- Would you rather be a raccoon or a fox? Why?
- If you had to choose between a million dollars and superpowers, which would you choose?
- What’s your favorite day and why?
- What’s the hardest thing you’ve ever done?
- To whom would you (or to whom did you) dedicate your first book?
I tag you!
Yes, you.
If you play, let me know. I’ll add your link in this lovely spot right here:

My favorite public procrastinator took up the challenge! http://procrastinatinginpublic.wordpress.com/2013/02/19/
And it’ll be like I tagged you originally.
See? It’s like I didn’t break any rules at all.
Great answers!
But why blue food dye?
Totally irrational! I have this idea that the blue stays behind and stains my insides.
Plus, it just seems… unnatural. More so than other colors.
Like I said, no valid reason whatsoever, haha!
I distrust blue food dye because of that time I drank 2 blue margaritas and got overly wasted and sick. Two regular margaritas never hit me like that.
Maybe it was something else, but I just don’t do blue.
I researched blue food dye once to see if there was anything weird about it to justify my instinct, but I found only good things. https://rarasaur.wordpress.com/2012/11/08/blue-food-and-organs/ Still though, ick!
Wonderful learning more about a fellow heart lifter! And that quote too funny!!!
Well, you didn’t break any rules, did you?
I’d love to be tagged, and I think I’ll do the last thingy the same way as you did. I’m not too long into wordpress land yet, so I don’t know that many bloggers yet that I can tag – especially minus you, for you are tagged already =P
Haha, nope, no broken rules at all. Just… adjusted.
I’ll keep checkin’ and when yours goes live, I’ll add it to my lovely spot.
I did it, I did it!
http://eccentriclady.com/2013/02/19/tag-youre-it/
I don’t like blue food dye, But that’s because I once made blue peppermint flavoured custard and the lid if the flavouring fell off giving a huge glug of it. Since then, every time I think of blue food colouring, I get this awful taste of peppermint in my mouth.
haha! Oh that sounds awful!!
Awful and hilarious.
I did it in 1989 and I still get the taste when I see it
When I was doing my food colouring and making it look lie a goblet of fire .. last May I think it was .. I had to use blue food colouring and ended up with chronic wind because of the taste. Not very pleasant lol
Oh man!! haha, well, I’m glad you survived to tell us the tale today, haha!
Oh, I think your fear of blue dye outweighs mine… and it definitely outwits it,
Awesome stuff Rara! Great answers!
I`d definitely love to be tagged. I`ll link back to this page so you know
Oh yay! Looking forward to reading your answers.
Terrific answers, Rara. And another Daddy’s girl. We are clearly the best
.
Clearly!
Thanks for tagging me, it was fun!
Glad you enjoyed it. These things are a blessing and a curse, I find. And timing makes all the difference.
That look! That is one of the worst looks you can get from people. I don’t know why it’s like that when everybody is so ready to talk about their FB posts and Tweets.
Great answers, I love that fist picture
Before I decide if I want to be tagged or not, are you looking for “real” answers or real answers?
haha, any answers.
I think it’s just supposed to be a bit of fun!
Considering how long it took for me to come up with even 6 things for today’s DP, I am going to pass and then read what everybody else comes up with instead!
Haha, I totally understand!! That’s why I always adjust the rules. I considered– 11 colors I like, 11 things I like to see on clothing, 11 animals that I would like to have as pets, 11 animals that should be able to speak English, etc. Easier than coming up with 11 new things. Then I just answered Elyse’s questions. It was way better than ironing!
Rule breaker!
LMAO Rara..you crack me up and I am about to pee my pants over your “#2′ …wait NOT that #2, but the “emergencies that happen while naked” #2…I have had one of those…I must write about it. Was truly one of the freakiest, scary moments of my life that turned out to be one of the most hilarious. Thanks for the reminder :p
Oh you must write about it!!! Those types of events are always funny in the aftermath if you have a good sense of humor, haha!
Still though, I’m paranoid about them!
“He opened up my eyes to the idea that a cat could do so much more than others assume.” World domination sshhhhhh
I’m becoming convinced it’s going to be the crows, perhaps aided by the capuchin monkeys. Both groups are already fairly sophisticated tool users. Once they figure out the internet, it’s just a matter of time before they are our new masters.
Definitely crows! I can already tell by the look in their beady eyes that they’re plotting. That’s why I have cats. Cats > crows.
Ah, wise move! (And it’s possible the crows might cut you a break — birds are said to be descended from dinosaurs, after all. I ‘spose they might even crown you Queen.)
Well now. If I’m to be queen, I might be more forgiving of the creepiness of crows.
I have an allergy to jumping through other people’s hoops, so I ducked when you tagged, but I loved your answers!
I tried answering this 8 different ways, and each time it sounds like some sort of twisted pick up line. That should have been one of my 11– that I often say things that I think are innocent but that actually sound … questionable, haha! So instead I’ll say…
Thanks for reading!
Well, now I really wanna hear those eight ways!
(It’s not often one gets a chance to use the “twisted” smiley!)
Well, let’s share the not-so-awful ones… “You only say that because you’ve never tried my hoops.
”, or “Don’t knock it till you try it– I’m fairly certain you’d enjoy jumping through hoops for me.” See? They sound fine in my head, and would *maybe* be fine spoken by me… but written down, they magically transform into words by Mae West.
Haha!
Maybe channeling a bit of Mae West avatar there, I see what you mean. Well, I was just curious what the hoopla was about!

I took your challenge! http://adventuresintheotherla.wordpress.com/2013/02/18/challenge-tag-youre-it/
Yay!! Thanks!!!
Love the photo and photo post. If you start a business, I want in.
As far as talking about blogging, what is up with that? I was just at a party when I mentioned a friend who was a bellman (Hook), and my cousin said, “Oh, you mean those people you met online that you have never met in person?” I said, “yes,” and everyone walked away, as if I was talking about an imaginary friend.
Rara, as soon as I can, I’m coming down to SoCal to give you are real hug, so when I tell people about you I can say that you are a friend I know in person. {{{Hugs]}} Kozo
Oh, Kozo’s comment made me burst out laughing re the imaginary friend – so true! Hmmm, I may join the game, but just to you, Rarasaur! The blue dye – I’m with ya – my junior high science teacher once said, while discussing food groups, that it was impossible for people to eat blue mash potatoes. I’ve never forgotten that!
Huntmode– Did he mean that people CAN’T eat blue mashed potatoes… like, we’re not physically able? Or, just that anyone with good sense wouldn’t? haha!
Now I’m curious!! Join the game in whatever way works best for you– I love finding out about people.
No, just that they wouldn’t… well, would you?!
Thank you, I’m quite fond the photo myself.
That style of collage is quite unpopular in design, but I’ve always liked it.
When I start a business, I’ll let you know!
People react like that to ALL online friends if you haven’t met them yet. I’ve never met one of my very best friends, who I’ve known for 12ish years. I have a list of people to notify and things to do if my health takes a turn for the worst, and he’s always high up on the list. My family knows better than to argue, but I explained the list to a doctor once, and got a lecture about “basically invisible” friends. Oi vey! Talk about a Rarasaur moment! I think the poor man was charred.
And, yayyyy, good plan!
*hugs*

Spritz your clothing with water until evenly damp, adjust on hanger, Let it dry.
Voila, no wrinkles and no ironing (this will work for most clothing, especially if it is cotton).
Yayyy! I will try this immediately! Hurrah for less ironing!
Yeah, I woman I used to work with told me about. It wasn’t the happiest day of my life, but it is definitely in the top five! It doesn’t work as well as ironing (and won’t work on everything), but it’s still a super useful trick!
Love the picture of Shepard Book. It is a show that was totally unappreciated in its time and it ended way too soon.
I took the challenge! http://procrastinatinginpublic.wordpress.com/2013/02/19/yet-another-tagging-game/ How does one tag another person with a blog? Does it work like on facebook, where you just type in the name/link and they get a notification, or do I actually have to message them saying I tagged them?
Thank you!
It works almost like FB. You have to link to a specific post. It’s called “Pinging”, because if the link is operational, the other people will get a notification and it’ll show up under their post with the comments (unless they delete it). I find that pinging is the easiest way to let someone know you tagged them without going over to their blog and saying so, but remember it has to be a specific post– not just their blog name.
Hope that helps!
