I stumbled across this blog Typealizer today.
What I like:
- It’s fast.
- You can type in whatever blog address you want, so you can see what your friends are.
- That they ask for your real Meyers Briggs profile to compare. This suggests that they’re building a better platform.
- The awesome brain graph and adorable picture.
What I don’t like:
- It’s based on Myers-Briggs. You see, I believe that the type-instincts of a person are different than that of a person-as-a-blogger, and different than that of a blog-as-an-entity. It’s like putting lotion on a bug bite. It’s not wrong… it’s just not right.
- It’s unclear as to how it extrapolates the data. For example, if it’s including comments in the blog text– are my commenters reflected in my personality?
- It pegged my husband as an E. That’s usually a sign that something’s wonky. He’s about as I as it gets– in blogging, and in the real world.
But it was fun, and about a million times faster than the Ra-Son BTI test.

Hrmm… I always find these things so odd and never really quite true to who I am. I guess because I’m complex and it usually depends on my moods… sometimes I prefer to socialise and sometimes I prefer to be a hermit. Anyway… blog type was indicated as ISFP and I just took an online Meyers Briggs test as well and apparently my ‘real’ type is ESFJ…. ??
Odd! So either the test is wonky, or you’re a different sort of blogger than you are a person.

I’d say probably a combination of both. In my blogging life my creativity/sensitivity comes through, in the real world I’m badass. Ok badass is not quite true either but definitely a bit of both.
Cool, I just did it and I am an ESFP. That is about as close to me as any of those tests has ever come.

Sounds like you need to make more Doctor Who references on your blog, and show that test your indoor geek side.
In all actuality, though, it’s probably all those outdoorsy pictures! 
There’s a rumour that Matt Smith will be leaving this year. In an episode with Tom Baker, Peter Davison, Colin Baker, Sylvester McCoy, Paul Mcgann, Christopher Ecclestone, David Tennant as well as some way of having William Hartnell, Patrick Troughton and Jon Pertwee. Although it will be sad to see him go, what a way to go in a spectacular episode.

Well, they’re extrapolating from the flattened text of your blog. What they’re looking for exactly, I don’t know… but probably certain key phrases and how often they’re used. I wonder how significantly it would change from post to post!
It seems pretty hit or miss, though. Some people thought it was spot on, others thought it was all wrong… who knows?
Still, it was fun and fast!
I’m apparently a performer. Most of it is right apart from the planning part. I’m a biiig planner. And I can work well in teams but I tend to do better alone, just because I like to bosh it all out and get it done. So guess it’s not entirely right, but I partly write my blog to entertain so I guess my persona is that of a performer going from that…
That makes sense!
I’d guess than a good portion of bloggers fit the “performer” category for that specific reason.

My problem with Myers-Briggs is always the middle categories, where I get equal scores in both halves of the pair – apparently I’m an INSFTP. Which is against the rules, but so what? Anyway, this site sounds entertaining, and I’ll have to take a look later.
Actually, when you are exact middle in a category, you get an “X,” so you would be an IXXP, which is pretty cool. My Dad has an X in his official testing, and I always wanted one.

I didn’t even know Myers-Briggs was still a thing. I thought it was an old-school personality test that was only still used by evangelical Christians . . .
Nope! It’s still the reigning personality test, though I don’t know if anyone uses it too seriously.

I usually Myers-Briggs-test as an INFP, so . . . pretty close!
Here’s the thing with those tests. I ALWAYS answer the questions with an end goal in mind. I cant help it. Even your awesome test I did with the idea of, “How do I WANT to be?” Even when I try really hard to be honest, I am controlled by whatever mood I am in while taking the test. So this test, to me, is SO cool, because I can’t control it! It says I am ENTP – The Visionaries. I don’t know what I think about that…
I loved that part of it, too! It’s so nice to just let the computer run. But now I want to delete certain posts and see if it changes, etc… I’m just too curious about how it works.
“Visionary” does sound about right for you, though.

Just analyzed my blog. They’re either way off, or my blog doesn’t properly reflect my personality.
Based on the comments, I’m thinking they’re fairly hit or miss, but it’s hard to say for sure. People are reluctant to consider that their blogger self could be so different from their offline self.
Well, I do have a nicer ass than my blog. At least that’s what I’ve been told.
It typed me as ESFP, which is close. I’m an ESTP according to the official test, but I can completely see why it wouldn’t recognize the Thinking (mathematical, logical) side of me on my right-brained, creative writing blog.
That does make sense! The T side of you is probably quite hushed when writing your flash fiction.

I like to think my blog is a fairly accurate representation of my personality. I pretty much lay it all out there. The profile I got from the Typealyzer was about 50/50. I got ISTJ. While I do give great attention to details and fact citing, and I have conservative views, I don’t consider myself as a left-brain type, which is what this type seems to suggest.
Interesting! I think the program is looking for very specific types of text, and some people’s blogs have slang or engage in other topics that it doesn’t quite understand… which makes sense. It can’t know everything, but it is interesting to see how far it can go with just our words.
ESFP The Performer is mine! I would never say I’m an extrovert though..haha!
The Performer’s outfit is snappy, though I do like the mechanics’ clothes better, haha!
There’s a lot of Extrovert/Introvert discrepancy, but like many have mentioned… maybe it’s just a matter of our blogger personality vs our real life personality.

It was almost completely opposite. Apparently who I am when I blog, is not who I am when I answer Myers-Briggs questions
I got ENTP – I’m INFP. Now, that said, I liked what it had to say…about some things … that’s my ego talking though – “They are especially attuned to the big picture and good at anticipating trends. They often have sophisticated language skills and come across as witty and social”.

“It is very common that who you present yourself as ONLINE is perhaps a part of your personality you subvert in your day to day interactions. ” – True! It’s why I liked that their program doesn’t ask for user input… just sort of “grades” you.
I’m enjoying reading through the comments and seeing which blogs ranked as which. It seems like people with multiple blogs got different answers for each blog as a norm. That makes sense– it’s why you’d split the blogs to begin with.

Well, apparently I’m a Performer (ESFP). Only I’m not. The P is definitely correct, but in person I’m anything but an E – unless I’m with people I know well enough to feel safe. Probably I come across as “E” when blogging because in this online universe I can take the time to polish my posts, instead of just blurting things out in real time and embarrassing myself…I suspect the Typealyzer would find a lot of false E’s.
Anyhow, I wanna be a Mechanic – I like that picture a lot better than the Performer
I did think the mechanic outfit was pretty spiffy!
Based on the comments, it looks like there’s an equal amount of I’s as there are E’s… it’s interesting, I really would like to see the specs behind it all!

My blog typed as ESFJ. In real life I consistently type as an ENFP. I wonder how they come up with that though? Is it the type of words you use in your blog somehow calculated? Hmmmm…
I read the about, and then translated the page they referred to– they read the RSS feed of your blog, as a flattened file. That’s why I’m curious if they include the comments (like my feed does) or a certain number of pages, or full posts on those who don’t have full posts set up on their RSS… I couldn’t figure that part out though.
I don’t know but earlier today I was an ESFJ and I put down at the bottom where it asks that I am ENFP. Then just now I tried again and it put me as an ISTP, which is like way far off, lol. Haven’t added any new blog posts or gotten new comments today either so that was odd!
So strange! Maybe it’s just glitchy. I just typed you in and it says ESFJ. :/ Weird!
It had me at ISFJ, when I am an ISTJ, with the T being one of the lower measures. Interesting…

I couldn’t believe how quickly this worked. I did not provide any information about any previous experience with Myers-Briggs & they nailed me as the same type as I usually test. But to me it was just too fast to have actually done any analyzing at all.

Interesting. It typed mine as ESTJ, and In reality, I’m an INFJ with a strongly developed T (analyst by profession). But, as you, I believe blogging personality doesn’t necessarily reflect reality. That touchy-feely, emotional stuff doesn’t always go over well on a blog, and not necessarily the audience I want to attract. I want to attract Ts, so I use my T. Thanks for sharing!
