Weekly Photo Challenge: Lost (in the) Details

bear

Sometimes an unraveled spool of brown thread is forgotten, a small sample of AstroTurf is thrown away, and a roll of scrap wire is left unnoticed.
Often times, details get lost in the grizzly fray– but occasionally, they are manifested into something unbearably wonderful.

Q: What do bears do when it rains?
A: They get wet!

Q: What color socks do bears wear?
A:  They don’t wear socks, silly, they have bear feet!

A man goes to the movies and sitting next to him is a bear.
He turns to the bear and says, “Hey, aren’t you a bear?” And the bear says, “Yep.”
So the man says, “Why are you at the movies?” and the bear says,
“Well, the museum was closed.”

Do you have a favorite bear? or bear joke? or bear pun?

  1. I’m loving that photo. It looks kind of magic. I have a book by Garth Nix, in it people make wire models and then can use magic to bring them to life almost. I feel someone’s gonna come along, snap their fingers and that little bear’ll be boogieing in no time!!
Hmm. What bears pack when they go on holiday? The bear necessities.

    • Haha! I am definitely not a bear, then, I pack so much more than the necessities, bear or bare or otherwise. ;) That book sounds awesome! A little bit like Indian in the Cupboard, I shall check it out!

    • I was waiting to reply to this one till I found the song, then my darn internet went out… but now everything is lovely and I saw the Lovett song and I love that you passed it my way! :D Thanks, Jon!

  3. Haha that was so clever and cute! I think my favorite kind of bear are black bears because they seem the least dangerous. Or maybe panda bears. Or koala bears…!

    • Koalas aren’t really bears, and pandas are pretty volatile, so I think you should stick with black bears, haha! :) It was beary nice of you to stop by. :D

  4. My wife and I have always supported the right to arm bears. She as a number of Gund (collectible) Snuffle bears, including a very old one she got as a kid, that has joined her at Renn Faires in his own outfit with leather harness and whip. (Don’t ask.) Then there’s the Christmas bear we have, that is as big as my wife. Seriously. We found it in a resale shop back in the Chicago burbs, she asked if we could get it, and I told her if she could get it to the counter, I’d buy it. So 5′Zip of wife sticks her arms under the bear’s, forklift-style, and hauled him to the counter. He barely (pun intended) fit into the cargo area of our Subaru wagon!
Me? I collect dogs. And moose (moderately long story). And a couple dragons, just to keep the rest in line. :D

    • Haha! The bear collection sounds awesome, and the image of your wife carrying the giant bear around cracked me up, haha! :D Everyone should have a dragon or two to keep their other collections in line. :) It’s good to see you around again, John!

  5. I like koala bears because they’re cute. Except thinking about it I don’t think they’re actually bears at all. I think they’re marsupials.
    But they’re still cute.

    • I loved koala bears (even though they definitely aren’t bears) growing up. I had little figurines and stuffed toys. Then I went to the zoo and saw them, and now I’m a little terrified of them, haha! :D

  7. I made vodka out of my food yesterday, which bamboozled me. Then mother started to complain of a hangover, which led to chaos, it was panda-moany-mum!
    Lovely pic Rara :)

  9. I love the photo! How did you come across this? Did you fashion it out of string? Or wire?

We all have our little bears. I used to have a light brown Gund bear when I was a kid. I remember packing it when we moved to Canada after we got married. I last saw it in my daughter’s bedroom in her new apartment in San Francisco. The bear lives on!.

    • :) Like most artsy things in my house, my hubby (Dave) made it. It’s fashioned out of scrap wire, thread, and this little sheet of sample astroturf we got once. Gund bears are so cute– I’m glad yours lives on!!

    • :D I don’t actually have kids at all, but I’m surrounded by them so I tend to pick up their jokes here and there. I think the 6-year-old humor never really left me. :D Glad you enjoyed the jokes!

  11. And it came to pass that all the bears held a meeting. Every bear came: Teddy Bear; Mokey Bear; Smokey Bear; Momma, Papa and Baby Bear. Even Yogi Bear and Booboo were there. (Also attending were Bear Back, Bear Naked and Bear Withme.)

When the meeting was done, all the Bears went out to eat.

    Except for Teddy.

    He was already stuffed.
